DJ Bot not rotating as you'd expect?
Hey Loudcasters,
Ever wonder why tracks aren’t rotating as you’d expect? Often times this comes down to track selection rules. The rules are located in the Manage Audio section of your DJ Dashboard. Lets say your rules are:
200 - Track
180 - Album
160 - Artist
30 - Station ID / PSA
Lets take two tracks, “One Fun” and “Two Fun”, by “The...

Is there room on the lifeboat?
In our small team at Loudcaster, whether there is room in the online-radio-or-streaming-music-industry for all the players in it is a topic that rears its head once in a while. As we discussed it the other day, Brandon made the point that the market is far from saturated, that the services are structured differently, bring in different audience, and have different goals. Basically he was saying...

Personal vs Personalized
Radio’s definition is in limbo now, is hotly debated in some circles, and will likely come out the other side looking quite different than it does even after this recent movement. That said, I love radio, regardless of its definition.
I feel, however, it’s important to make a single distinction. Radio is personal… Sorted music collections are personalized. Both have their...

Are you interesting enough to be ugly?
Radio stations, podcasters and bloggers in a way have it easier than the rest of their web-counterparts. People don’t only absorb content from these sources from their originating website. This means that if your site is so-so, difficult to navigate, ugly as sin, or just unappealing, it might not turn away all your viewers, they simply never see it.
But for the rest of the audience who...
Music Communities. Its Cliche…. For A Reason
Communties around music are nothing new. Since it’s inception when the first caveman began banging sticks on walls as a way of communicating some emotion, idea, or action, others listened and responded accordingly. Regardless of the reason of the particular song or sound, others will flock to engage, give opinions, join in, learn about, purchase or belong to a conglomerate of like minded...
DJ Dashboard and Loudcaster Stack COMPLETELY NEW!
We’ve had requests. We’ve watched the logs. We’ve seen the glitches, the needs and the potential. We knew we could do better, and just like the 6 million dollar man… “Gentlemen, we can rebuilt it. We have the technology….. Better. Stronger. Faster.”
And so we did. You may think all has been quiet from us the last few months, but we were not sitting idly by as you made requests for features,...
Rockabilly-Radio Station Manager - Owner
We have been running and monitoring our Audio output of the Auto DJ Bot and adding and deleting tracks to suit our requirements, so far it has been very reliable with very few Glitches, dropouts or buffering.
The new feature of the Scheduler we will be testing out from August 15th and will report anything that is working well and what may need adjusting or improving, We hope to assist in that end...

Help us build a super simple desktop radio...
By now, 2011, broadcasting should be as easy as blogging and it’s not. Many people are overwhelmed by it. We want to change this by getting together with a desktop app developer that loves online radio, broadcasting and DJ-ing.
Over the years many first time broadcasters have told us they find virtually all on-line radio broadcasting tools are a bit like jumping into an F16 fighter cockpit...

New Loudcaster Features: Crossfading and MP3...
Greetings DJ’s!
Two new highly requested DJBot features are now available for use:
Crossfading….
With one caveat, if you turn this on all tracks get crossfaded. Including station id’s and PSA’s. Depending on a few things, it could sound a little odd when a PSA or Sation ID is played.
MP3 Stereo…
For that that prefer it, you can toggle the mp3 portion of your output between stereo and mono.

DJ Bot improvements
We’ve made some enhancements to the DJ Bot based on your feed back.
DJ Bot is no longer cross-fading Station ID’s and PSA/Sweepers and we got rid of an occasional delay between track selections. We also simplified the scheduling of Station ID’s, PSA’s and Sweepers by combining them into a Station Break. Down the road we’ll add customizable clock-wheel features.
Next on the to-do list is...

Monsterous Psychedelic Bubble Explosion
(wow.)
I was checking out the Motel de Moka blog this morning when I came across Electroid 2000′s A Monsterous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind Vol. 2 (Platypus, 2008). Schils posted it. Great find man!
I don’t know what to say about this track. Surprising, strange, a little 60′s coupled with Middle Eastern? I’ll settle for calling it wild.
Motel de Moka: Keep on the hunt!

When I say 70s music, what comes to mind?
What do you think of when you think 70′s music? Disco? The Brady bunch theme song? (I try not to.) Many ears (and reputations) were wounded during the 70s. Leagues of hipsters permanently lost their manhood from dancing in skin tight polyester jeans. (They had this rating system called Paint Scraper. From one to ten, how strong did the paint scraper have to be to remove the...

Daft Punk and the Tron Soundtrack
Coming soon and I can’t wait: the Tron Legacy movie. One of my favorite techno bands, Daft Punk did the soundtrack. I can’t imagine a more perfect fit. Their style is so Tron anyway… My favorite Daft tracks? Da Funk, Harder Better Faster Stronger… More coverage on the Synthetic Sound Blog.

Do your ears get bored?
I keep wondering about my ears. They get bored. They’re like little kids in a way. Remember telling your Mom that you’re bored? My Mom had two stock responses: Go outside or go read a book. Those were primarily dependent on the weather.
Here’s what I know about my ears:
Ear Likes: Mainly instrumental, any genre (could be polka, could even be Bhudist Chants)
Ear Dislikes: The MBTA...
